  • Give it a good washing. After months of driving through all the salt and dirty slush winter brings, it is important to get the grime off of your vehicle. Pay special attention to the underbody, the bottoms of your doors, and any areas where you may have chipped paint.
  • Clean out the inside. All that salt and slush accumulates on the inside of your car too and can wear down the fabrics inside. Make sure to wipe down all of the surfaces and vacuum and clean the floor mats to get rid of any traces of winter.
  • Change your oil and other fluids, Make sure your oil is still at the appropriate levels and consistency, and if not make sure to get an oil change. You should also check out other fluids under the hood and top them off if necessary.
  • Check out your tires. If you switch out snow tires and summer tires, now is a good time to inspect both sets. Check to make sure they still have a good tread depth and are properly inflated. Now is a great time to examine your spare tire as well.
  • Update your car’s emergency kit. Now that the deep freeze is over, you can take items like a winter jacket, hat and gloves, and an ice scraper out of your car’s emergency kit. You can also check to make sure your kit is complete, such as making sure your flashlight is still working, and that you have everything you might need in your first aid kit.
