How to improve fuel economy

Following these tips will help you to get the most out of your vehicle, check out this list below!

  • Drive slower. The faster you go, the more fuel your vehicle uses.
  • Go easy on the throttle. Accelerating quickly and slamming on the brakes both lower your fuel efficiency.
  • Check your tire pressure. Under-inflated tires burn more fuel.
  • Try not to idle. If you will be stopped for a while (over 1 minute), it is more fuel-efficient to turn off your vehicle and start it again when it is time to go than it is to idle.
  • Get your engine checked out regularly. Ensuring your engine is in optimal condition and your air filter and oil are clean is important to help your fuel economy.
  • Try not to overpack. The heavier your load, the harder your vehicle has to work to haul it all.
  • Combine trips. If you have multiple errands to run, try to get them all done in one outing.
  • Use cruise control when appropriate. The constant speed helps to reduce fuel consumption.
  • Don’t warm up your vehicle. Most cars don’t need more than 30 seconds to warm up, and idling your vehicle eats away at your fuel levels.
  • Keep the windows up. Especially at high speeds, having the windows rolled down increases aerodynamic drag, making your engine work harder.
